Pembrokes are low, strong, sturdily built dogs characterized by an alert, active manner, giving the impression of substance and stamina in a small space.
Fox-like in shape and appearance, with lively, intelligent expression.
Medium length with well sprung ribs. The loins are not short. Viewed from above, the body tapers slightly.
Solid red, sable, fawn black and tan, with or without white markings on legs, brisket and neck. A little white on head and foreface is acceptable.
Pricked, medium-sized, slightly rounded.
Preferably naturally short, set in line with the topline, carried low and not curled over the back
Medium length, straight, never soft, wavy or wiry, with dense undercoat.
It’s amazing how much power this cheerful breed brings to the table despite its compact size. Bold and workmanlike. Pembrokes are particularly outgoing and friendly, never timid or aggressive.
