White shepherd dogs have become increasingly rare in the United States and Canada. The first specimens were imported by the Swiss in the early 1970’s and there are now a large number of purebreds with lineages going back several generations throughout Europe. The White Swiss Shepherd Dog was formally registered as a new breed in a supplement to the Swiss studbook (LOS) in June 1991.Attentive and vigilant, White Swiss Shepherd Dogs are even tempered and not at all nervous. While occasionally a little reserved with strangers, they are never anxious or aggressive.
The American male Lobo, born March 5th, 1966, is considered to be the father of the breed in Switzerland. Its descendants registered in the Swiss studbook (LOS), together with other specimens imported from North America, slowly but surely founded a line in Europe.
