The Bullmastiff breed was produced by crossing Mastiffs and the old type of English Bulldogs more than 150 years ago in the U.K. Lauded for their very good protection skills, Bullmastiffs soon revealed themselves as outstanding assets in the fight against poaching.Bullmastiffs are smaller than Mastiffs but much more imposing than Bulldogs. Despite their huge size, they are actually very friendly dogs.
Broad and high with a strong, square skull.
The back is short and straight, producing compact carriage. The loins are broad and muscular, the flanks deep. The chest is broad and high.
Any shade of brindle, fawn or red, but always pure and clear.
V shaped, folding backward. Set high and far apart, producing a square appearance to the skull, which is very important.
Set high, strong at the base, tapering regularly to the tip and reaching to the hock.
Short, hard and weather resistant, lying flat against the body.
Bullmastiffs are powerfully built, perfectly proportioned dogs, giving an impression of great strength without heaviness. These high-spirited, ever-alert, loyal dogs have a reputation for being tough, active and reliable protectors of their family.
