Yorkies are proud miniature lions endowed with a fabulous all-over mane. But while they may look cute, these are terriers born and bred, make no mistake. Raised in normal conditions, amid a rich variety of experiences, they will display their feisty character to the full. These active and intelligent companion dogs are full of gusto but naturally even-tempered.

Head+

Rather small and flat, neither prominent nor round.

lupoid

Body+

Compact, with straight back, well-sustained loins and moderately sprung ribs.

lupoid

Coat+

Dark steel blue (not silver blue), extending from occiput to base of the tail, never mingled with fawn, bronze or dark hairs.

lupoid

Ears+

Small, V shaped, carried straight, not too far apart, covered with short hair.

lupoid

Tail+

Covered with abundant hair, darker blue than the rest of the body, especially at the tip, carried a little higher than the topline.

lupoid

Hair+

On the body, moderately long, perfectly straight (not wavy), glossy, fine texture and silky not wooly. Extending to the ground and continuously growing.

lupoid

Their long symmetrical coat of flawlessly straight hair is parted down the middle, from the top of the nose to the tip of the tail. These very compact, cleanly lined little dogs carry themselves very upright, giving them an important air. The overall impression should be of a vigorous, well-proportioned animal that packs more punch per pound.

Did you know ?

Hair is the Yorkshire Terrier’s foremost feature. Exceptionally fine and long, it never stops growing. Reminiscent of a horse’s coat, without undercoat, the Yorkie’s fabulously brilliant coiffure does not molt and needs special nutrients to retain its silkiness.
